It should stay fun and not a chore! Remember to enjoy yourself and don’t be too worried about messing things up. It can be very time consuming, allow yourself to take breaks or even just continue on a different day. Lastly, unless your scene is super simple, don’t expect to finish the whole thing in one day.You can find free Materials here or if you just search, there are tons available so you don’t even have to create your own (unless you want to, of course). I’ve recently started doing this more and more, because it saves me the time of having to export the texture of every piece of furniture I use in the scene. This is more advanced, but you could try playing around with Materials.Or just DuckDuckGo them and you can easily find loads more.

You can find some free HDRI’s here, here and here. “HDRI is a panoramic photo, which covers all angles from a single point and contains a large amount of data (usually 32 bits per pixel per channel), which can be used for the illumination of CG scene.” This will make the lighting in your scene look much better than if you just use point lights only. I mean, it’s not a huge deal because you could always rescale your sim but it just saves time. Load a test sim into the scene, to help with scaling things.And it comes free with Blender, no installation required! Only thing you have to do is make sure is that the add-on is enabled: It’s very easy to create a room base with that add-on. Not too many objects, maybe just make the scene so it looks good from one angle, just to practice and see how long it takes you. If it’s your first blend scene, try to keep it simple.Do you have a theme? A time period? An aesthetic? It’s good to know beforehand, otherwise it’s really easy to get sidetracked.
